Hey ladies, lets talk cleaning!!

Cleaning is something that you either love or hate…. or I guess it could also be a “love hate relationship” ( you dislike doing it but love the reward.) Well I am here today to tell you about how I fell in love with cleaning and some of my favorite products to use while cleaning our home!

Do not let this post fool you… I have not always loved cleaning! In fact I used to be pretty messy and unorganized (my mom can verify this)… BUT, I have since ditched my old ways and I will never go back! My interest in cleaning really started right after I got married. When Will and I moved into our apartment, I knew I had to make a change. I knew I HAD to clean (nobody wants roaches and dishes piled up to the ceiling!!) but never thought I would actually enjoy it! Well, to my surprise, cleaning has turned into one of my favorite “hobbies”… yes I just referred to cleaning as a hobby. And I don’t just mean wiping down the counters, I mean like scrubbing the floors, cleaning the toilets the whole 9 yards!

I vividly remember the 1st night in our apartment, Will got home from work and we ventured out to the Target behind where we live. We stocked up on some snacks and pantry essentials to get us by until we could fill our refrigerator. After piling up our cart with food I asked to stop in the cleaning aisle… dun-dun-dunnnn… I figured since I’d be home all day tomorrow I should get some supplies to deep clean our new home before unpacking all of our things. (Little did I know that this would be one of the most monumental days in my cleaning journey!) I got some glass cleaner, multi surface cleaner, a mop and some Mr. Clean.

The next morning I woke up determined to scrub, wipe and polish all the dirt, grime and germs from the previous tenant away, (and let me tell you…. it was d-i-r-t-y!) I felt so proud of myself when Will got home and said the apartment smelled so good and looked amazing! The same week we moved in I saw a friend on Instagram post about Grove Collaborative – a site to purchase natural cleaning products at a discounted price PLUS you got a free 5 piece gift set! I knew I HAD to get some fun products if I was going to take up cleaning as a full time hobby!! (Anyone that knows me knows that I love products and getting “cutesy” things to make it more fun!) So, I filled up my online cart and patiently waited for my box of goodies to show up.

Well 3 months later and I have ordered from them 3 times.. safe to say I have been loving my Grove Collaborative products. My favorites have been the Mrs. Meyers counter spray and dish soap. I love the seasonal scents they come out with and knowing they are clean and safe to use (as are all of Grove Collaboratives products)! Now, I sometimes have to stop myself from cleaning! There will be times where I crawl into bed and think “I forgot that spot” haha sounds crazy, but you CAN in fact go from not caring at all into a clean freak in just a few months!

I have come to the conclusion that having a cleaning routine is the easiest way to accomplish all of the tasks you want without burnout. Sooo I have decided to share our routine on how we maintain a clean and tidy home!

Here is my routine:

Daily:

  • Light a candle (technically not cleaning but definitely sets the mood for a good clean!) Leaves from Bath and Body Works & Marshmallow Fireside are two of my favorites for fall!
  • Make Bed – Will and I do this together first thing in the morning, it’s fun to get the family involved!
  • Empty clean dishwasher from night before
  • Pick up around the house
  • Wipe down countertops, sinks and door nobs with this and this.
  • Clean any dishes with this (their fall scents just came out and they are AMAZING!!!)
  • Spray in shower
  • 1-2 loads of laundry with this. (I do this every other day!)

Weekly: Usually I do these on Friday or Saturday, it gives me piece of mind knowing Will and I can enjoy a day of rest on Sunday!

  • Vaccuum Floors
  • Mop floors with this (it is great on tile, they have another one for hard wood floors!)
  • Clean Toilets with this
  • Spritz couch, bed and air with this room spray
  • Wash sheets with this
  • Clean microwave
  • Deep Clean shower with this
  • Wipe mirrors with this
  • Clean out fridge with any expired products and wipe down shelves

Monthly:

  • Dust Fans
  • Wash Duvet
  • Change Air Filter
  • Scrub floors with this
  • Declutter; closets, under sinks, drawers etc.

This is by no means a perfect cleaning routine, I know that there are people far more advanced in there cleaning routines than I… but this is what I have found to work for my family and I! My husband and I love cleaning together and maintaining an organized and balanced home and our routine has helped us achieve that!

If you want to try any of the products mentioned click here to receive a free 5 piece gift set with a $20 purchase!

I hope you have found this post handy and I would love for you to share all of your favorite cleaning products in the comments below! Is there a product I NEED to try?! Let me know, I’d love to hear from you!

Thank you for stopping by!!

I’ll see you on Monday!

  1. I JUST discovered Weiman’s stainless steel cleaner and glass stove top cleaner! I have tried sooo many different products to clean my appliances and stove top, but they all left a gross residue! Weimans makes everything looking brand new!!

    1. I would love to check that out especially with having all white bedding and towels it’s nice to have a safe product that gets out stains! Thank you for sharing, Michela!

  2. Thank you for sharing your cleaning routine Becca! I’ve been meaning to create one but now I don’t have to cause I can just use yours. Now I just need to fall in love with cleaning as quickly as you did!

  3. Thanks Rebecca, so many great ideas, and you look so cute! I want to try Meyers baking soda cream cleaner. One item I just tried in the last couple weeks and really like is Organic Wool Drying balls. You put these in dryer instead of dryer sheets, no chemicals and they work.

  4. This is a very practical and helpful article! It is funny how similar our cleaning routine are. Since we are homeowners there were tons of chores and tasks added to my cleaning routine. I genuinely enjoy cleaning so I can understand your feeling! Something I also do is to always deep clean our guest bedrooms every time we have somebody staying with us, make sure to dust everything, refresh their beds, vacuum the night before, etc). I also add essential oils to our vacuum’s filter (wash it every 6 weeks) and this, combined with either candles, and other air fresheners make the house feel extremely clean.

    1. I am so glad you found this helpful! I have never thought to put essential oils in the vacuum, that is such a great idea!! Thank you for sharing 🙂

  5. I started with grove collaborative about 3 months ago and can say they are all awesome products. They also have a new toilet paper made from bamboo that is great! Your routine is about like mine, it makes it easier to always have things neat and clean-helps anxiety too!
