Wedding Registry 101 | Timeless Basics With Pottery Barn

Hey ladies!! Welcome back and hello to any new friends!! I hope you are enjoying this mini-series I’ve been doing all week. If you have missed any you can catch up here and here! It has been so fun for me to look back and document these memories on here as well as share them with all of you! I am so glad you are following along! Also a quick side note – any word that is pink is a “shoppable link” that you can click on! So if you have any questions about anything mentioned you can click the word or leave me a comment 🙂

Today I am talking about wedding registries, however, anyone into home decor, interior design or home styling will LOVE this post too! When we got engaged I was SO excited to start dreaming about our future home. I knew I wanted to register for some pieces we would love and cherish forever, and I also knew that I wanted to register at Pottery Barn! I love PB for many reasons – they have a classic style and their seasonal decor is to die for.

Since I had moved to Florida right after we had gotten engaged I was so sad I couldn’t take my mama with me to register for our wedding wishlist! William isn’t really picky about linens and dishes and would have probably gotten bored in the first 5 minutes haha so my mother in law took me and we had such a wonderful time!

And first on the list:

Dishes

It did not take me more than 45 seconds to fall in love with the dishes I chose. I knew I wanted something charming and classy that I would adore for years to come. And these beautiful Leila dinnerware dishes are just that!

This is Pottery Barns description for the Leila collection: A romantic, fluted edge is balanced by rustic beading and the artisanal feel of a hand-applied glaze. A charming foundation for holiday place settings but sturdy enough for daily use, our Leila collection is ideal for a couple building a life together. It’s sure to be beloved by your family for years to come.

I love these dishes so much and am so glad we chose them! I am looking forward to many years serving my husband, our future babies, our family, and our guests on.

Flatware

Next up is flatware! Now, this was little tricker for me. There are SO many cute utensil options – did I want to go trendy and get gold, did I want beaded silver, did I want something plain?! I had no idea! I think I really overthought the flatware. I fell in love with a beaded edge set but knew it was not masculine at all and did want to honor my groom and create a style out of both of our tastes! So I chose the Riley Mirror Stainless Steel Flatware. They are classy, timeless and can go with many tablescapes! And hey, if I want to get a set of beaded edge or gold flatware for seasonal table settings or hosting – I just might 😉

Linens

I love a fluffy bed full of throw pillows, blankets, and quilts and luckily so does my husband! I felt this duvet cover at Pottery Barn and knew I would love falling asleep snuggled up with this dreamy fabric. I was SO excited when my sweet Aunt Linda and Uncle Ken sent us this set from our registry!! The one tip or suggestion I would make – (this may be TMI but I feel like I am doing my due diligence by sharing my experience) if you are planning on having a dreamy all white bed… make sure your groom to does not pick at his skin!! William has this “tick” where he just picks at his skin (he got it from dad). Anyway, it leaves spots on the sheets and is so frustrating!! On one hand, it’s not like I can actually get mad at him for that but on the other hand who wants to wash their duvet every other day?!?! I still love this duvet and sham set!!

Towels

Pottery Barns towels are the softest and fluffiest towels ever! They are what you would envision drying off with at a 5-star luxury hotel in Paris haha. When I chose our towels I did not know what color palette I wanted to use in our bathrooms. I love the beautiful porcelain blue color we chose and I LOVE the monogram that was added to it! I actually have the towels stored away right now and we have been using towels from HomeGoods. These were one of my favorite gifts we received and I am saving them to display in our master bathroom when we move into our next home 🙂

Kitchen

I registered for a lot of entertaining and serving pieces as I knew I would want some nice ones for our future! However, I do think it is very easy to think about cute things over functional things when you’re dreaming of your newlywed life. One particular gift I have gotten a lot of use out of and LOVE every time I get to pull one of them out are these beautiful Mixing Bowls that we received from my Aunt Barb! They are so practical but still feel fun and fancy! I highly recommend these!!

Another practical gift we received are these snack bowls. We actually got 2 sets of them – one from Williams precious Grammy and another from his sweet cousin Gracie and her family! I thought I only needed one set but am so glad that I kept them all! They come in handy for salsa, guacamole, nuts, yogurt parfaits, and even ice cream!! When we first got them, William said “What am I going to eat out of that tiny thing?” little did he know how much his bride would love having them on hand! They will be great for kid snacks in the future too 😉

I think everyone should register for a pitcher they love! It can be clear glass, plain ceramic or have ornate detailing – just find one you love and register for it! You can throw flowers in them, you can fix sweet tea for your guest or lemon water for days at home! I absolutely adore this one that we received and it’s even more special because it’s from my mama 🙂

Entertaining

Whether you plan on hosting Thanksgiving one year or have friends over every so often, every bride needs her go-to serving pieces! Something you are happy to serve your guests on! For me, it is this beautiful antique silver and marble cheese tray we received from one of Mrs. Wright’s incredibly generous friends. Of course, this does not need to be solely for cheese (although it is in our house! We love cheese!! – let me know if you’d be interested in seeing how I make our charcuterie boards, William and I both love them!) but having a go-to appetizer or hors d’oeuvre for less stress when you’re having last minute guests! And how excited would you be to pull this beauty out?!?

Something Fun

I think every couple (let’s be real… brides, you should get to pick it out!) should register for 1 (maybe 2) fun gifts that you won’t use all the time but you are ecstatic about! For us, that was this beautiful picnic basket. I have been known to take an ordinary plan and want to weave in many details and turn it into an extravagant event to make people feel special and loved! We celebrated Williams 24th birthday a few months before our wedding and I planned a picnic on the beach and finished the night with a movie at the drive-in theater. Well, I had used a picnic basket from my mother in law for the date and after that night I really wanted one of my own for William and me to make memories with!! So I added this gorgeous one from Pottery Barn to my registry thinking no one would buy it for us (it is pretty expensive for a frivolous gift in my opinion!) Well, leave it to one of my best friends Katie to surprise me at my bridal shower with it! It was so sweet that she knew how special it was to me and how badly I wanted it! I was SHOCKED when I opened it!! The one we have is no longer available but I linked a similar one from Pottery Barn and it is on sale too!! 🙂

Opening the picnic basket! Katie is the one behind it 🙂

Williams birthday picnic

This list could go on and on but I wanted to share the pieces I believe are timeless necessities that you can register for at Pottery Barn. They are classics and you truly can not go wrong! I love moments throughout our day where I think “how sweet it was of Mrs. Collazo & family to get us these forks and knives” etc. And I can only imagine how precious these pieces will be to us as time goes on. I am so grateful that I chose to register at Pottery Barn and look forward to adding to my collection of beautiful pieces that generous friends and family blessed us with for our wedding!

Last but certainly not least! I could not leave you all to go about your day without mentioning that today is my father in laws birthday!!! It is crazy how quickly the bond started between my in-laws and I but it does not surprise me one bit as I know the Lord had been preparing their hearts for me and my heart for them longer than we can fathom. Mr. Wright (I still don’t and probably never will call my in-laws by their first name! I was never raised to call parents by their first name so it feels so foreign to me!! So if you think I overuse the word in-law, my apologies!!) Anyway, my father in law has been so tender over the fact that I no longer have a father. He was the very first person to reach out to me on the anniversary of my daddy passing this year to encourage me and let me know that they were celebrating his life. I can not imagine how kind you have to be to honor someone you have never met and treat their child like your own, let alone remember the very day they passed away. Williams parents have both loved me so well since the time I met them and could not picture my life without them! William is a phenomenal husband and I know he learned most everything he knows from his father! So a BIG happy birthday to Mr. Wright!! We can’t wait to celebrate you tonight!!

Thank you all for stopping by!! I am grateful for each and every one of you! Writing this blog brings so much joy to my heart and I want you to know how much it means to me that you read and follow along!

We will be going on a fun trip this weekend for our first anniversary! I can’t wait to tell you all about it!! Wishing YOU a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you back here Monday morning 😉
