Weekend Recap | Vol.2

How is it Monday again already?! Is it just me or do the weekends go by in the blink of an eye?!?

I have been looking forward to this weekend for quite a while now! A few months ago I planned a trip to come and visit our niece, Will’s sister, and her husband and it just so *coincidentally* landed on the first weekend of fall 😉 As you have read in previous posts… fall is my absolute favorite season, and I just so happened to leave my heart in North Carolina a few years ago so it was a match made in heaven to schedule a visit this weekend!

My adventure started at 3:00 am Friday morning when I left my house to head to the airport! Every time I land (or arrive if we are driving haha) in Raleigh I feel like I am home. Sara picked me up from the airport and we headed straight to the house so I could get some Bennett kisses!! Every day of the trip we packed in fun activities but Friday (the first day) seemed to be the busiest day! Once Bennett went down for her nap, Sara and I chatted and giggled for a couple of hours just catching up! It was THE best to just hang out and spend some quality time together. Once Bennett got up we played for a bit and she decided to CRAWL for the first time!! It was so fun to be there and witness that sweet milestone (and luckily I caught it on film!) Next stop, we headed to a local pumpkin patch!! We had so much fun snapping photos and picking out pumpkins for Sara’s front porch!

My SIL is the cutest! You would never guess she just had a baby!!

After the pumpkin patch, we went home for a bit until Sara and I headed out on what we called “Sisters night out”! We both really wanted to see Crazy Rich Asians and that’s what we went and saw! We had such a great time getting treats and laughing for 2 hours. It was such a cute movie, I would highly recommend it! We kept saying it was a mixture of Princess Diaries, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, and a Hallmark Movie!

After a great nights rest, we woke up on Saturday morning and had a verrrrry exciting thing planned!!! So William and I got married in North Carolina almost a year ago. We found a phenomenal baker to do our wedding cake, cupcakes, and Williams grooms cake! (Funny story on how we met her – a month before our wedding, my mother in law and I were in town for a quick visit escaping hurricane Irma and getting some last minute wedding planning in. We really needed to nail down the wedding cake and wanted to visit some bakeries! We found “Beauty And The Batter” (which is that not the cutest name ever?!!?) online and wanted to check her out! We thought the address online for her business was a storefront brick and mortar but we ended up showing up at a house!!! We gave the number on google a call and Audrey, the baker, was so so sweet and said, yep that’s my house! She invited us in and had a full impromptu meeting with us, with one of her adorable babies on her hip I will add! Since my groom to be was not on the trip with us to taste the cakes, the very next day she “whipped up” 3 dozen mini cupcakes of a bunch of flavors and sent them with me to take home and taste with William back in West Palm. Talk about amazing customer service, accommodations and genuine passion for loving on her clients! Plus they were the most delicious cupcakes I have ever tried!!) Ok back to this weekend! So she offers a complimentary cake for your 1 year anniversary! Since we are not local, I went on a whim and messaged her since I knew I would be in town a few weeks before our anniversary to see if she would mind baking it early. Y’all… She was so sweet and excited to hear from me and said she would love to make the cake!!! I chose for her to make the spice flavor with her scrumptious buttercream frosting… it did not disappoint! It was so great to see her and that she remembered specific details from our wedding, it was so kind! If you are in the Holly Springs, Cary, Raleigh or Apex area and need a baker for a wedding, party or event you NEED to check out “Beauty And The Batter“!!! Audrey is just darling and her 3 little girls are so precious. Her cakes and baked goods are not only delicious but Audrey is such a wonderful person and loves her family and clients so well!

Oh, and can we talk about how GORGEOUS this cake is?!?! This was our anniversary cake she blessed us with!

Later on Saturday we went to the local downtown and shopped at some cute boutiques! We picked up some cute fall bows for Bennett, and Sis and I did some window shopping! That evening, we had the yummiest pork tenderloin with golden potaotos and green beans. We topped off the night with face masks, a Rom-com and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies (and some of the cake hahaha)!

Sunday morning, Ethan went out and got us Bojangles (my favorite boberry biscuit!!) and we went to church. One of my good friends Katie who is a nurse at Duke Hospital came over to visit! It was so so sweet catching up with her, she is always a breath of fresh air and a joy to spend time with! We finished the night at Sara’s small group and then relaxing at home (with some more cake of course 😉 ).

It was the sweetest weekend filled with people I love! The only thing missing was William!! I am so grateful for the time I got to spend loving on our niece and having sister time, it filled my heart enough to get me through the next 2 months until Christmas!
