Hey girlfriends, happy Monday!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! If you are wondering… no, there are still no signs of fall in Florida, but we are making the most of it! If you missed last Thursday’s post, you can click here to catch up! For those of you that did get a chance to read it, I hope you found the advice as helpful as I did! Leave a comment at the end of this post if you have applied any of the ideas mentioned from that article as well!
Lately I have been trying to turn my mornings into a routine rather than just “winging it”. And by “winging it” I’m sure you know what I mean… rolling out of bed 30 min after the alarm, not preparing or enjoying a real breakfast, skimping on packed lunch and random outfit picked out while running out the door. Oh, and don’t forget putting your mascara on in the car!!! Hahah. Whether you’re a momma or work a 9-5 outside of the home, I believe everyone should have a morning routine that kickstarts their day so they can be their best self. Something they can enjoy and look forward to waking up each day to accomplish. And trust me, it is a game changer.
On a good day, (which every day is a good day because life is a precious gift!) I like to wake up and make my husband breakfast. We have been focusing on eating more nutrient-rich, not processed, whole foods. Usually, I make him 2 eggs over easy, 3 strips of bacon (nitrate free, no added sugar), 1/2 of a large organic chicken sausage and maybe some grapes. I say maybe to the grapes because for a while I got lazy and only made him eggs and grapes so now we have this running joke about grapes haha. Also, I eat the same thing as him just smaller portions (like 1 egg and 2 bacon strips etc.) and on fun days, avocado toast! Anyway, to top it off I love to make us both a smoothie! And lucky or you I am sharing our favorite smoothie recipe!! This thing will hold me over until lunch which is a miracle in it of itself!!!
Rebecca Wright’s Morning Smoothie
Baby handful of kale
1/3 Cup frozen fruit (Use what you like, we prefer organic with no added sugar)
1/4 of an avocado (makes it really smooth!)
1 tbsp almond butter
1 date (either chopped or cut up a bit)
1/2 cup almond milk (we use the original unsweetened)
Blend & Enjoy
Super easy and soo delicious! This recipe can be modified and you can add whatever else you want!
After enjoying breakfast together Will starts to get ready for work and I like to unload the dishwasher and then place whatever dishes or utensils I used to fix breakfast in the dishwasher. My goal is to get the kitchen clean! After that, I like to spend about 20-30 minutes having quiet time. I either pray or do a devotional and study His word. To be honest, I do not do this everyday however it is a goal of mine that I am specifically implementing this month to become a daily habit. And then I get ready for my day!
Let’s be real… I never look like this doing my devotions hahah
I know it can be tough to get out of bed but the reward is so worth it. I NEVER used to be a morning person but recently mornings have become some of my most treasured moments of each day! You have the power to make any day great, so why waste another one?! I would love to incorporate my workouts in the morning instead of at night but I am starting small! If you workout in the morning before work – please tell me your secrets, I’d love to know!!
I hope you enjoyed reading what I do to “kickstart my day”! I’d love to hear any tips on what you do with your morning moments in the comments below. And let me know if you try my smoothie!!
Now go kickstart your day!
