Happy Tuesday, friends!! I hope you all powered through your Monday and were able to check something off your to-do list!
Yesterday I chatted a little bit about joy and got a great response, so today I thought it would be fun to dive a little deeper! There are just some things in life that bring me joy and give me that little girl on Christmas morning feeling. I can not truly explain the feeling, although the closest thing (which is still not adequate enough) is “I feel like I am going to burst with confetti”. And trust me… I do know how crazy that sounds!!!
All good things come from the Lord so one could only think he created some of these frivolous things to make our earthly lives a bit more joyous 😉 Haha but in all seriousness, the everyday stressors of life can definitely blind us from the little things that bring us joy. So grab a cup of coffee, tea or whatever you enjoy most and chat with me about some of the most tender moments that don’t get enough recognition!!
- Stationary & hand written letters
I absolutely adore a cute letter. Whether it’s one of my personal favorites, a just because or a thank you note – I love the whole process!! From picking the color ink I use to write it (I always use a Stadler pen, they are my favorite!!), to the stationary and postage. I remember my dad gave me a book when I was young about writing letters. I think this is where my love affair with letters began! And although I can’t do it.. yet.. (it’s on my bucket list ;)) I love a calligraphy addressed envelope!
I never used to be a lipstick girl but in the last few years I have really started to appreciate how it pulls a look a look together. I think it’s so cool that lipstick has been timeless through the years and I think the right shade can add a touch of class to your look! I’ll do a beauty post on some of my favorite brands and products soon 🙂
It’s no secret to those dear to me that I love sentimental things! My favorite is my gold necklace that I wear everyday that Will got as a wedding gift. Another is the locket that my Momma gave me on my wedding day that my Dad had given her one Christmas. It takes more than going to the store and buying a “fancy” gift to create something sentimental. They can be the most odd objects but mean more than words can say!
I loooooove baskets. I love having them in my closets, in our pantry, under the bathroom sink and in the laundry room! I also love giving them as gifts filled to the brim with pretty goodies! You can find them for a great price at Home Goods but if you want to splurge, Pottery Barn has some beautiful ones as well!
- Fall candles
There is absolutely nothing better than busting out and lighting the best scents of the year. Fall is hands down my favorite time of year, not only because it’s when we got married ;), but also for the warmth of the season. I remember as a young girl coming home from school during the last months of the year and my Momma would have a seasonal candle burning (an immaculate house, which kudos to her – I don’t know how she did it but our house was always clean.) and yummy after school snacks for us while we did homework and she cooked some warm dinner. I really can not explain the giddy feeling I get when it gets to be this time of year and the nostalgia that comes with burning candles in this season! My go to’s of course are bath and body works: Leaves, Marshmallow fireside, white barn no. 1 and perfect autumn. BUT I think I found a new favorite.. it’s called Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla and it smells soon yummy! And don’t even get me started on Christmas scents!!
- Traveling with my husband
I love love love traveling with William. I would not care if our travel time was 24 hours and we had 3 layovers haha I just genuinely enjoy traveling with him! He makes it so fun. (And if we don’t have seats next to each other he always asks the person next to me if they can trade!!)
Anyone in my family can vouch that I LIVE for holidays. I love the decorating, the baking, the cooking, the hosting, family time and everything in between! I can’t wait to have our own kids one day to make every holiday fun and memorable for them. And if I’m the “crazy over the top mom” for holidays, then so be it!
Alright, I can’t not include my favorite store on a post about things that bring me joy! Now this one may be a little pretentious but just hear me out. Every. Single Time. I walk into Nordstrom, it is clean, there is beautiful music playing, the lighting is perfectly and softly lit (not giving you a fluorescent headache), and it smells heavenly. Their customer service is great and they have free shipping and free returns. And on top of all of that they sell EVERYTHING! I know it sounds silly but Nordstrom is like a little slice of heaven on earth for me!!!
I know my mother in law is in on this one with me! I could skip dinner and just do dessert hahah ok maybe not but there are certain desserts that just make my tastebuds dance!
And last but most certainly not least, Traditions. Decorating sugar cookies at Christmas, writing love letters on Thanksgiving and baking my daddy’s (who is no longer with us) favorite cake on his birthday. I love traditions and the joy that they bring on exciting holidays and hard ones. I can not wait to start creating more with my own little family and passing them down to our babies one day!
Now lets wrap this up by talking about this outfit!! I know it may not be everyones cup of tea but whether you’re a fan or not, leopard is in!!!! (And has been for a while now but I still wanna talk about it!) I think pops of fun prints are so unique and can instantly spice up the most basic outfit! If you want a more subtle touch of leopard I would opt for this belt – at only $16 it is a great piece to try the trend if you’re not ready to fully commit to a pair of leopard mules (even though they are my favorite pair of shoes that I own!!)
And finally if you’re at all into oversized designer sunglasses, you NEED these. They look identical to a pair of Prada sunglasses that I had (and may have lost but still pretending they are not lost and they’ll turn up one day ;)) but the only difference is these were $9 on Amazon…. You’re welcome 😉 Now if you leave them at the beach or your mischievous toddler gets a hold of them, you won’t feel like you spent your monthly grocery budget on sunglasses!! The rest of my outfit details are linked below the photos at the top of the post!!
Now lets keep chatting, silly or not, what is something that brings you joy?! Can you relate to anything on my list? I would love to hear!!
I know this was a rambly post but before I go – I want to thank YOU for your sweet support of my blog!
