Weekend Recap | Vol. 1

Hey sweet friends!

I thought it would be fun to start doing weekend recaps to share and document fun finds, silly stories and exciting activities William and I get into.

This weekend was definitely a fun one in my book!

Friday, Will called me on his way home from work and told me to find a movie I wanted to go see. Which, I know he really wants to serve me and show me I’m loved if he lets me pick the movie because he only watches movies with ratings of 80% or higher (usually I choose a love story with poor ratings.. haha). We went and saw A Simple Favor… I so wanted to like this movie because it is starring Blake Lively, but the movie was a little more explicit than we were expecting! The storyline was definitely not what I was expecting and I probably wouldn’t recommend it :/ But overall we had a super fun night! We found a new theater by our house and it was just fun to try something new!

Saturday morning I headed to Trader Joes and stocked up on groceries for the week. I found a ton of new items that I’ve never tried before so I thought it would be fun to share a post in the next week or so to share the items we loved! Saturday we celebrated 11 months of marriage! We have been amazed at how quickly time is going by, and each day just gets sweeter. I am super excited for next month as we celebrate our first year of marriage! I will be sharing some sweet stories and a look back at our wedding! The rest of the day we were getting work done and just hanging out until dinner. For dinner, we were able to spend some time with a couple that is so special to us! They live about an hour north of us so when we are able to get together it is such a sweet time that Will and I treasure!!

4:30 am Sunday morning, Will and I sprung out of bed to head to our first ever 5K! A quick backstory – we have been running together for a while now and have made a goal to run a half marathon and then a full marathon. We wanted to start with a small goal while we are training so we found a 5K, signed up and anxiously awaited our first official race! It just so happened that the event was sponsored by the hospital that William works at and the cause was lung cancer. A few months ago a friends mom was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. My heart shattered when my friend shared with me what she and her family have been going through as I can relate to the hardship of a parent fighting cancer. We were so excited to run this race that we were the first runners to even show up ( and my husband is not a morning person!! ) It was such an amazing experience, and of course, I couldn’t fight back my tears when they called the survivors to the stage.  We were able to watch the sunrise when the shotgun fired to signal the start of the race, and all I could think of was how beautiful this life is and how amazing our God’s grace is. As I ran, I pushed myself harder than I had ever during training. Thinking of my friend’s mom, thinking of the survivors that were there and their family members running in their honor and recognizing God’s favor in my life. I will never forget running my first race with William by my side and the purpose we were running for.

William finished 11 seconds ahead of me (boy can that man pick up speed when he sees a finish line!!) and we finished the race 6 minutes faster than our training times! We also each won 1st place in our age divisions (Will in male and me in female) which was fun for our first race!

Clearly, I was ready for this photo 😉 haha

The gentleman photographing the event was so kind! He offered to take a photo of William & I together after we received our medals. We thanked him, he gave us his contact info and personally emailed these photos to me!

William doing great at the finish line 11 seconds before me!!

Super cute 😉 haha always finish hard and strong!

Handsome husband!!

After the closing ceremony, we headed to First Watch Cafe (a farm to table style breakfast, brunch and lunch spot) and enjoyed a yummy breakfast! When we got home we both got some work done and finished the afternoon enjoying a charcuterie tray and watching a Netflix documentary called “The Short Game”. It was absolutely adorable – about young professional golfers and their road to the national championships at Pinehurst North Carolina! Will was a very talented golfer at a young age so it was so fun to watch it with him! If you are into golf at all or want to watch the cutest 8-year-old golfers play an incredible game you should definitely check it out!!

Now fill me in on your weekend! I’d love to hear what you got up to or any good movies you saw! And let me know if you enjoy more laid back posts like this with more real-life photos, I’m curious to hear 🙂

I’m looking forward to conquering this week and accomplishing many tasks! I also have some fun travel plans for next weekend so I may or may not already be counting down the days until its Friday again!!!

Thursdays post is 2 things anyone in their right mind should love… fall and fashion! I’m pretty excited about it And there may be a giveaway that you won’t want to miss 😉

  1. Congratulations on completing your first 5K! Exciting and rewarding!

I remember running my first 5K and a group of folks together in a snake costume running side to side passed me up, I thought they can’t finish before me, really got me going to the finish line.
