Transitioning To Fall

Photography by: Mary Mahoney

Surprise!! I am just so excited for this weekend that I decided to put up a bonus post! (for those of you that are new I post on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays!)

This Saturday marks the 1st official day of Autumn!!! I’m currently in route to North Carolina (literally on a plane when this post goes live at 5:30 am!!) to spend a fun weekend with my sister in law Sara, her husband and our niece, Bennett!

Fall is such a sweet season to me. For pumpkin patches, cozy sweaters, apple picking, hay rides, and the like! The crisp air sets the mood for a magical day in my opinion, and sadly… anyone that lives in Florida (or most of the south) doesn’t really get that nostalgic fall weather.

So do people dress in bright colors and Lilly prints all year in Palm Beach? Some do! But today I am sharing a look that can help you transition to fall if you live in a warmer climate or anyone that has a few more weeks bearing those 80 degree temps! Darker and richer colors give you the fall look that you want and opting for pieces with those shades but in lighter fabrics can aid in comfort when it’s still 80 degrees out!

For this look I paired a camel colored sweater from J Crew, this is always one of my favorite colors for fall, with black shorts to balance the look. One tip is to pick one piece for the cooler climate and one piece for the warmer. Another example would be if you wore long pants, wear a lighter top or maybe even short sleeves! I added gold tortoise printed earnings to make the look a little more preppy and used touches of leopard print to spice up the basic look. I think this is a very practical look for anyone living in a climate with heat and humidity in the fall months!

I hope this post inspired you to optimize your wardrobe while transitioning to fall!

If you missed yesterdays post, I am doing a $100 giveaway! You can check it out here to see how you can be entered (super easy!!)! The winner will be announced in Tuesday’s post, so go enter now!!!!

Thank you all so much for stopping by! I hope everyone has a wonderful fall weekend, leave me a comment and let me know if you have any fun plans!!!

XOXO

  1. Thank you for the advice because even here in Greenville, South Carolina, I feel like I either dress too warm or too cold on some of the unpredictable Fall days! Loving your pictures as well.
